Kylie makes her debut as a pitcher in 12U

Kylie has not pitched in over a year, but was called into the game to pitch when our pitcher was late due to a band concert. She did a great job!

She actually ended up getting the win according to how the game worked out!

Kristen has been doing great at playing the infield this year.  She has been playing 2nd base and has gotten several people out at first.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to capture that on video.

This video is too funny!  Kylie was hit by a wild pitch!  Funny, you ask? Yes!  Here's the story behind it:  Earlier in the week, one of our players had been hit pretty hard on the elbow by a wild pitch.  We thought her elbow was shattered. It sounded awful and she went down immediately.  Turns out she was fine.  That night I came home and ordered Kylie an elbow guard.  It came in the mail a few days later.  When she tried it on, she immediately began talking about how bulky it was.  When it came time for the next game, she was still complaining about the bulkiness.  I basically told her if she wanted to hit, she would wear the elbow guard.  End of story.....NOT!  Her first at bat, she had taken 3 balls.  Next pitch, she was hit!  I thought she was hit in the back...............NOPE!  Guess where she was hit???  Watch the video! :-)  Later on that same night we heard "HEADS UP!!"  A foul ball from another game came over their fence and bounced one time right in our dugout and hit Kylie........where????.......RIGHT IN THE ELBOW GUARD!!  TWICE in one night!! Needless to say, she didn't say anything else about how bulky it was! ;-)  We sure have had some good laughs over that one!
Kylie scores
Catcher's Interference............that's a first for her!
This one definitely was a fun hit! A bases loaded Double to keep us in the game!  We were down 6 to 2 and her RBI's made it 6 to 5!  However, she was left stranded on second and she lost her first game of the season 6 to 5 :-(

Happy Birthday, Dad! (Gary's Dad)

Another May has arrived, and that means at least one thing every year to you,
Dad - you're another year older! It's a good thing so many wonderful
things happen in the spring, or getting older could be very difficult. :)
Seriously, I wanted to take a few moments to let you know how much
I love you and appreciate all you did (and do) for me. It takes effort to
realize your true age because I still picture you as in your thirties and forties.
The memories of childhood, teenaged years, and young adult are so vivid
that I still see you (and me) for that matter as much younger! I am thankful
that God allowed you to be so active in my life to teach me things of spiritual
value as well as things of temporal. Now your influence in the life of our girls is
just as important and exciting! Hope today is a great day for you as you
turn a year older. We love and miss you!
Happy Birthday,

Unwanted Visitor!

Yesterday as we were preparing to leave for the softball game I opened the backdoor to throw something out and this is what I found slithering up my steps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you say PANIC!?!  Gary was at work and I didn't know if our neighbor, Bob, was home!  I just knew I was going to have to kill this snake by myself!!!!!  I would've done it, but I SURE didn't want to!!!  The girls kept their eye on it for me while I called Bob.  I was so RELIEVED when he picked up on the first ring!! He was over with his shovel, rake, and gloves in no time!! As I quickly learned, he didn't care too much for snakes either, but he was so willing to help out and we were sooooooo thankful he did!!  While we were out chasing the fastest snake in the history of mankind, my darling daughters were inside laughing and making the whole experience "blog-worthy" by photographing the entire death sentence!!!  How sweet of them.  Kristen can do a great impersonation of Mr. Bob's "death dance" he performed as he was killing the snake!  Not to mention all the laughs I got for jumping back so many times! :-) Aren't they sweet!?!  So, now you can have the fun of looking through their photos!

It still gives me the "hibby-jibbies" when I look at it!!

as you can see he was like 40 feet long or so!

Bob thankfully thought of raking him away from the house so he wouldn't go underneath it!  I don't think I would've thought of that! I would've probably ended up shooting it or something! :-)

this pic is hilarious!  (Bob's death dance) He started towards me (rather quickly I must say) and I was ready for him!

aimed and ready!
