Part 1- Huge Blogger Catch up!!!!

I've been so terrible about blogging the last part of the summer and fall.  So, better late than never!  We have had some great experiences that deserved to be recognized. I'm such a chronological person and I really wanted to blog in order, but it just didn't happen.  So, here goes part 1:
May 31st we attended a field trip to a cow farm with our local agricultural extension office.  It was super hot, but we learned a lot and enjoyed seeing our friends the Kuhns as well.  The farmers were terrific and were so knowledgeable.

Look who took turns cutting the grass all summer!  (actually what I meant is look who fights every week over whose turn it is!!)

Thanks Kayla & Kylie! Y'all did a great job!
Since going to Freedom Way, Kristen & Kylie attend Patch the Pirate club on Wednesday nights and absolutely love it!  Here are our little Pirates:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!!

The first picture is our Christmas Eve dinner and the second shows the Nativity we built. Also, we hope you enjoy the video of the girls singing at church Christmas morning. Gary helped accompany them on the keyboard for the first time! We enjoyed reflecting on the purpose of the season this week. We were blessed to share a time of food, fellowship, and caroling with lots of brothers and sisters in Christ. That was a blessing as always. Time spent with our families has been great and we head to VA this morning to see our nephew for the 1st time! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Goodfellows!

Thanksgiving 2011

Mema loves the lights at "Meadow" so we decided to take her on a date to see them and eat at Cracker Barrel. We had a blast and so did she! She told the girls funny stories of her childhood and a story about my brother that I will, for many reasons, not type on this blog!! haha :-) My girls and us were laughing hysterically by the time we got home!!

The Last Supper

The girls convince Uncle Ricky to let them ride him on Uncle Keith's Ranger!!!  Look out!

He said, "Never Again!"

Uncle Ricky proves to Kristen he knows how to braid!

Uncle Timmy picking on Kristen!
The girls have always loved to build things out of scrap materials.  That started when we would let them help with hammer, nails, boards, etc when we were building our house.  This month they have been perfecting a grill!!  They used mud mortar and chicken wire for the grill!  It was so awesome!  They were begging to light it so after Thanksgiving we had a fire and grilled left over turkey. Yum Yum.

They decorated outside for our Thanksgiving time.  So cute, but hard to see in the dark!  They almost decapitated their mother!

We are so thankful for the blessings God has bestowed upon our family.  We are so very blessed.

**Happy 60th B-day Mom!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even know where to begin, but as I look back over time, I know that
my "wish list" for my mother could not have been filled any more perfectly.
God has blessed you with many good years (and me with being a part of
2/3 of them), and I am so grateful for you. I know that you are enjoying life
as "travelling home missionaries" and it excites me to so you so happy.
Melissa, the girls, and myself wanted to share these pictures of you as a
reminder of your life. Hope your ????? birthday was great! We love you,

Fouth of July, Freedom, Fun, Friends, Fellowship......

We celebrated our country's independence by starting the weekend at the Croaker Fest selling handbags and participating in the parade.  David Friedlein rode w/ the girls and had a blast!  They rode in their "Bronx Bomber" (i.e. pink Yankees go-cart).  The girls participated in a baking contest, but unfortunately they didn't place this year.  Kristen had a blast scaring everyone w/ Papa's crazy mask.  Later that night we enjoyed some of the fireworks while packing up.  The next day we did a mini-Cantata singing songs about how blessed we are to live in this country.  The church was decorated so beautifully and the girls had the opportunity to sing.  We finished the night fellowshipping at the Payne's house.  Monday our family met up w/ the Hairs and enjoyed the activities at Tryon Palace where we were able to hear the reading of the Declaration by costumed characters and a fife and drum concert.  A bit later, we had a picnic on the back lawn while the girls played "cricket."  We came home to rest a bit and take care of the animals and then went to the Hairs' house for some great food and fellowship.  We left early w/ them to get a good spot for the fireworks.  We found a great place (or so we thought) w/ them and the Friedleins.  We had room to play a few games of Boche and room for all our chairs and blankets.  The Marine Corps band was fantastic.  As the fireworks began, though, we realized our view was 1/2 blocked by a motel!!  AGHHH!  Oh well, the kids loved it anyway and it was so sweet to watch all of their sweet faces take it all in!  We love this country and are so thankful for the blessings God has given us because of it!
